The world’s most ancient Egyptian museum is located in Turin, thanks to the efforts of an Egyptologist from Padua who in 1759 discovered a variety of artefacts and sent them back to Turin. The collection gradually grew until present times when the Egyptian Museum of Turin can now be considered the most important in the world, second only to the Cairo Museum. 852095 visitors were recorded in 2016, putting it in tenth place in terms of the most visited Italian museums. Inside the museum, set out over a newly refurbished surface area of 60,000 m2, visitors can admire mummies, papyri and many other exhibits dating from the fascinating Egyptian age.
